15th Annual Coney Island Film Festival

Almost every iconic filmmaker working today got their start at film festivals. From September 18th – 20th Coney Island residents can discover the next great filmmaker in their own backyard at the 15th Annual Coney Island Film Festival. Considered one of the “coolest film festivals in the world” by MovieMaker Magazine, this year’s lineup promises to entertain and move audiences to laughter and tears.

The eclectic films selected come from all over the world, including several “made in Coney Island” productions. Films range from horror to documentary to animation, with enough variety that’s sure to entertain both film buffs and novices alike. The goal of the festival is to bring audiences, local community and filmmakers together to experience the power of independent cinema in the heart of “carny culture” through sharing stories that may not be considered “mainstream”.

There are several events, such as talkbacks and meet and greets, scheduled to help foster educational and cultural experiences, share ideas and cultivate professional relationships. And there’s the festival’s infamous opening night party, which features live performances by sideshow and burlesque stars, as well as an open bar and finger food.
All screenings are held inside Coney Island USA 1208 Surf Ave. Brooklyn, NY, Coney Island. Tickets can be purchased online or at The Coney Island USA Gift Shop/Box Office 1208 Surf Ave, Ground Floor, (718-372-5159), during the festival dates.
